Hats, hats, hats!
Say yes to hats if you can – they’re stylish all year round and a wardrobe style essential for the glam queens among us. Nothing quite shocks an outfit into the next level like a hat (except gloves) – whether it be a fedora, wide brimmed, beret, perched fascinator or floppy sun hat.
Practical fashion that is oh-so-fabulous too…
They’re practical too – keeping us warm in winter and shaded in summer, protecting our delicate eyes from harsh rays and providing just a little extra protection from the suns burning UV every day (we all wear SPF daily moisturiser obviously, we’re not idiots…)
A hat gives that extra pizazz to an outfit and exudes a fashion confidence that is readily appreciated by other stylistas who will give admiring glances and think ‘I really should wear hats more often!’
Paired with a great pair of sunglasses, it’ll hide a number of hair woes and offer protective eye-contact-shielding options on days when we just aren’t feeling the social mood.
The perfect dramatic frame for our face
Hats are wonderfully versatile and finding a simple one that suits our face shape is key. If we own just one hat that’s a great fit and style for us, that’s enough – it can be worn with so many outfits that our only fashion worry will be losing it in a gust of wind.
This very thought panicked me when, after years of being dissatisfied with clunky fedora shapes, I found the perfect wide band fedora hats from Hawkins UK (available with global shipping on Amazon.co.UK) – so I bought two of every hat just in case I ever lost one! #paranoid #notgonnarisk
Overcautious much? I regret nothing! The perfect hat must be protected!
I wear the fedoras regularly, and have indeed almost had them blown away once or twice but thankfully I’d tied the Hawkins internal adjustable string for a perfect fit to my head, which kept my hats wonderfully secure.
As I’m paring down on my fashion, I’m appreciating their versatility all the more. Here’s to hats!!
What outfits will I hat-hat-hat today?
Timeless, edgy, elegant or super stylish; it’s important to choose a hat that matches the outfit. Or have a hat that works with many outfits, as is my preference. For example, a wide brimmed round black hat or black fedora – throw it on with a singlet and shorts, ballet flats or thigh high boots and you’re rocking already. A simpler style perk couldn’t be easier to get up and go with .
Great hats can be found from H&M, Zara and other outfitters, but be sure to only choose a hat that’s WOW and SO YOU, otherwise it’ll lament in the forlorn and oft forgotten ‘maybe’ wardrobe areas of disuse.
Don’t give up! The perfect hat is out there for you!
It took me years to find a fab fedora that didn’t look like a crazy tall cowboy hat on my head, and that was a result of trying on fedoras all over the world for many years with no success.
When I found the perfect fit by chance in a shop near Piccadilly Circus in London, I tracked the brand (Hawkins UK wide brimmed fedora) and bought the colours I’d wear.
I haven’t looked back since, and the one or two ‘almost perfect’ fedoras from other brands are on their way out with the other maybe items that have barely been worn once or twice.
Stick with the fashion that inspires a big YES in the heart – that really feels beautiful and we just love to wear. Everything else can hat off. Byeeeeee!
