The perfect mix and match exercise wardrobe?
Want your workout outfit to look consistently look fabulous yet elegant? But not have to think about outfit matching? Some people manage it so well. Others of us are left scratching our heads and grabbing the same all-black ensemble time after time.
Which can be fine, but what if we want a little more style variety?
Here’s the super simple solution.
I’ll choose black and white as my example, because that’s what I’m using.
So, when shopping for exercise items I’ll choose blacks, whites, or the black-white shades in between. Whether from my favourite activewear brand Varley, Nike or Adidas – I’ll head for grayscale monochromes.
If everything I choose as exercise gear has elements of black or white in it, mixing and matching will be easy. This can include all black or all white items, but also greys and patterns.
All we need is to choose a colour base and stick to those colours.
Same goes for choosing tans and blacks, if that’s more flattering on your skintones; or blues, yellows, pinks or reds etc.
Some people rock neon and crazy prints – so they go all in with the wild patterns and colours and it works like a psychadelic dream.
Black basics are easiest to mix and match.
I find having black basics that pair with the other main colour makes it much easier to grab and go.
And although I find myself drooling over Varley‘s coloured snake print ranges, I hold back and think about how much I’ll actually choose that item versus ones in my fit-colour range of choice.
Black, white and greytone is versatile for wearing to and from the gym as well.
My colour choice of black & white exercise basics is easy to wear pre and post workout without looking too gymlife. I prefer this as I’ll often do errands before or after lighter exercise sessions, and would like to look a bit more casual wear than workout wear while doing so.
When paired with a black or white tee and cute little sneakers, these gym fashion options can pass as casual everyday outfits for heading to the supermarket or for a post-workout coffee with friends.
